My maternal grandparents played an enormous role in my personal development. My love of photography comes from their influences, encouragement, and instruction. I was confronted in 2014 with their mortality for the first time. Within one month, they both faced very serious illnesses. While in the hospital with my grandmother, my camera helped me to process the events and emotions surrounding me. This was the first time I had found solace through documentation.
